Data sources & method

Paper metadata (title, authors, year, DOI, abstracts, citation counts, topic concepts) is harvested from OpenAlex via ISSN lookup per venue. Journal front-matter (tables of contents, editorials, publication info) is filtered before dedup so it doesn't inflate hubs. Duplicates across sources are collapsed via DOI first, then fuzzy title + year + author-surname overlap.

Coauthor communities are detected with Leiden on strong-tie edges (≥ 5 coauthored papers), then label-propagated to weaker fringes and combined with independent islands (≥ 10 members). Topic labels are TF-IDF keywords extracted from the titles of each community's papers.
